NexalSEO vs Yoast SEO: an honest feature comparison

By Anis Harbaoui, SEO specialist · Updated 16 October 2026 · NexalSEO on GitHub

Yoast SEO is the most established WordPress SEO plugin, with a large ecosystem and strong readability tools; NexalSEO includes redirects, a 404 monitor, internal-link suggestions, WooCommerce and Local SEO audits in its free version. Both output a connected schema graph. The right choice depends on which features you would otherwise pay for.

Schema: where they really differ

Yoast pioneered the connected graph in WordPress, and NexalSEO follows the same model: Organization, WebSite, WebPage, Article, Person and BreadcrumbList linked by @id. The differences are in configuration. NexalSEO exposes knowsAbout topics as a setting that accepts Wikidata URLs and adds Speakable and CollectionPage options; Yoast offers a mature developer API that many other plugins integrate with. Switching from Yoast to NexalSEO

NexalSEO includes an import tool for titles, descriptions and focus keywords. Follow the migration checklist, then deactivate Yoast so only one plugin outputs structured data (see duplicate schema explained).

What does Yoast include for free?

We make NexalSEO, so check this against Yoast’s own pages. As of October 2026, Yoast’s free plugin covers XML sitemaps, schema, readability checks, llms.txt generation and redirects for attachment pages only. The redirect manager, local SEO and the AI features sit in Premium, which Yoast lists at 118.80 a year excluding VAT. NexalSEO’s free plan includes a redirect manager capped at 200 rules, so a small site can handle its redirects without paying for either plugin.
